Sibling rivalry or teething toy??

I see this being in our future.....

They are so funny interacting together already! We can lay them next to each other and they are just hitting each other like crazy! They just get so excited and it cracks us up!

Just had to share this funny story (it wasn't funny to Bailey)...this past week, we laid Bailey and Griffin on our bed as we finished getting ready one morning. I had stepped into the bathroom to put my earrings in and all of a sudden, I hear Bailey start SCREAMING! I know her normal cries and this was not one that I had heard. Jacob and I both ran into the room trying to figure out what was going on. Bailey was screaming and Griffin was just staring at her trying to figure out what was wrong. With a little investigating, we discovered that Griffin BIT HER!!! Once I picked Bailey up and consoled her, we both started dying laughing! Just looking at their faces was priceless....Bailey with her feelings so hurt and Griffin so confused as to what happened. We figured out that she had put her arm right in front of his face, and him being the sweet, teething boy that he is, just bit. We have all been bit now, and I know he doesn't mean to do it at all...that teething is just hard work! We laugh all the time thinking about what our future will hold. We have also had a few incidents already where they are laying on the blanket with their toys and one will take the toy from each other...Griffin will yell and Bailey cries the most pitiful cry you have ever seen (lip poked out and all).

We didn't take a picture until the end of the day, so the mark is much smaller than it was..had to document the first sibling induced injury! :)

Our Little Blessings

I know that I talk a lot about how thankful I am for Griffin and Bailey, but this past Sunday night, we had a "Future Disciples" service where we had to write a letter to our children that included our hopes for their futures. I wanted to include each one of their letters so that we had them written down for many years to come!

Griffin,

We have so many wishes and dreams of what great things you will accomplish and what an amazing Christian man we hope that you will become. You have nothing but opportunities ahead of you and we know that you will take advantage of the incredible potential that you possess. Whether you are hitting home runs, shooting jump shots, or making the grades, our hope is that you give your very best at everything you decide to do and always remember what is most important. You were certainly put on this earth for a reason and we know that you will make a dramatic impact in the lives of those that you come into contact with. You will be a constant example and ambassador for your heavenly father and those who meet you will see the father through your actions. Through the good times and the bad, we know you will turn out to be the son that every mother and father would be proud to have and we cannot wait to watch the story of your life play out. Our vision for you is stated best in 1 Corinthians 10:31 when is says “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you, do it all to the glory of God.”

When we think about your sweet life and what the future holds for you, we hope that you will always see the potential that you have! You are such a blessing in our lives already, and we know that you will be a blessing to many others. Jeremiah 29:11 says “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” As your Mommy and Daddy, we know that God already has big plans mapped out for your life. Road trip and a day off

Jacob, Bailey, Griffin, and I loaded up on Friday and headed to El Dorado for the weekend. We decided to go to help my sister, Hannah, get ready for her senior formal. I have so many great memories of going to formal and can't believe that it's her last year to go...she has grown up so much and is such a beautiful girl! I will mention that it's SO hard for me to come to grips with the fact that it's been almost 10 years since I've been to formal...how is that possible?!?!?!

Saturday, Bailey and I accompanied Hannah to get her hair done. She was such a good girl and watched as Hannah got "beautified." We dropped her off at my parents house after that so that she could take her nap. My sister asked my dad for a check for her nails and out came Bailey holding the check...and she did NOT want to let it go! It was the funniest thing!

My Mom and Dad had to help serve part of the dinner and dessert, and chaperone the dance...however, I stepped in for Dad chaperoning the dance after Jacob and I put the babies to sleep (I think Dad was more than willing to swap places).

We had a great time that night, it was wonderful seeing everyone on Sunday at church, then we loaded up the car and drove during naptime!

Last night, I stayed up way too late! I started reading the new Karen Kingsbury book and I could not put it down...which meant I was awake until about 12:30...then Griffin woke up ready to eat about 5:30, but luckily went right back to sleep. I had a great day at home with my two sweet babies...love 3 day weekends! Jacob's sister, Jenna, and her sweet boyfriend, Clark, came over to visit for a couple of hours and it was great to see them!

6 MONTHS OLD?!?!

I do not know how my teeny, tiny little babies are already big 6 months old! It's going by so fast and there are days where I ask them to stop growing up so fast on me. I have always been told that each new stage is better than the last, and I can already see how much fun we are going to have and how right those people were!

Griffin is a growing little boy!!! Our pediatrician was amazed at how he has hit some major growth spurts. At our 1 month appointment, he was in the 5th percentile in height and weight. Now, he is weighing in at 19 pounds and is in the 75 percentile and is 28 inches long, which is the 90th percentile! Jacob is so proud to have a son that is in the 90% for height...he said maybe Griffin will get the tallness that he never quite got! :) Griffin has developed quite the personality...he is now sporting FOUR teeth and he loves to grin with those sweet teeth. It makes me smile just thinking about that cheesy, little grin! He has also developed a habit of grinding those little teeth together and it is driving me bonkers....it's like running your fingernails down a chalkboard! I try to squeeze his little teeth or give him something to bite on when he does it...any more suggestions? He is rolling all over the place and it is almost impossible to get him to stay on his stomach except when he's sleeping. When I put him on his stomach, he flips over immediately and giggles. Have I mentioned how much I love that sweet smile and giggle?? His hair is really growing and it is blonde, which we're not quite sure where that's coming from! I just think he's the sweetest and cutest little thing. He has really mellowed out a lot lately and will actually sit and cuddle with me. He is becoming a pro sleeper (knock on wood)...we put him down about 7:45 and he sleeps until about 7:00 the next morning. I can handle that! I can't wait to see what he will do next!

Bailey has also had quite the little growth spurt...she is in the 75th percentile for height and weight! She is weighing in at 17 pounds and is 26.5 inches long. Lately, she has discovered her voice and it is the sweetest sound you have ever heard! She has always been the one who smiles so big that you think something HAS to come out, but it never does...not anymore! She's babbling constantly and after doing it, she will just giggle...I guess she thinks it's pretty cute too! :) She has her Daddy in the palm of her hand! When we hold her up, she will just put her sweet, little, chubby hands on our face and we just love it! Bailey has two teeth on the bottom and she is getting much better at the whole eating baby food thing. For awhile, she just spit it right back out, but she's getting the hang of it now. Unlike Griffin, she does not really like to be on her back...if you put her on her back, she rolls right to her stomach and has become a pro at pushing up on her arms. She has started scooting backwards and turning from side to side, but hasn't started crawling forward yet. Bailey's hair is also growing in and we can't really figure out what color it's going to be...it's looking like a very light brown. We also think that she has some sweet dimples, which I love! She has gotten really good at sleeping, but lately, she's had quite the cough and that has disturbed her sleeping some. She is still the most content baby and is happy the majority of the time. She's such an easy baby and we love her so much!

It's so hard to believe that it's been 6 months since Bailey and Griffin were born...I still love to look at the pictures of when they were born and think back to what an adventure that was. It's so much fun to play with them now and to watch them learn new "tricks." I know I say it a lot, but we are just so blessed to have these two, sweet, healthy babies! We just fall more in love with them everyday!

Griffin and Bailey's First Christmas!

This has been one of, no, the MOST tiring Christmas of my life!!! It has been wonderful and I have loved it, but I am exhausted!! :) It's amazing how much two babies add to the mix. In the past week, we have packed up a whole house, Griffin had RSV, moved to a new house and unpacked everything, traveled for Christmas, had our 6 month appointment, and had Jacob's family to our house...WHEW! Makes me tired just rethinking about it all!

Last Tuesday, before Jacob and I went out for my birthday, our good friends from college, Andrew and Janelle, came by with Hadley to visit and meet the babies. It was great to see them and catch up!

Wednesday, my mom and Hannah took the babies to El Dorado so that we could have time to pack and not be done for the night at 8:00 for their bedtime. It's AMAZING how much more you can get done with just the two of us! Thursday, my mom called and said that Griffin woke up really congested, and asked if I thought she should take him to the doctor. We decided it was a good idea to go ahead and take him with the holidays. Good thing she did, the doctor said he had Bronchiolitis, which is a strand of RSV. It was very hard for me to be away from him while he wasn't feeling good, but I knew he was in good hands.

Friday, we closed on our new house, so Jacob and I signed ALL of the paperwork, then moved all of the boxes to our new house. We headed to El Dorado to see our sweet babies and were so excited to see them. We had a great time celebrating Christmas Eve and Christmas morning there, then we headed to Nashville, Arkansas for lunch and to spend time with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Most of them had met Griffin and Bailey, but not all of them, so it was fun for them to meet everyone! We have a lot of young kiddos running around (and some adults who like to play like they're a young kiddo), so it made for a fun time! I can't wait for our sweet little ones to join in the fun!

Sunday night, we headed back home to gear up for the big move. I laid in bed that night just dreading what was to come and just wished for it to be done! We woke up Monday morning and the fun began...in the rain! :) Our "Cabot parents", the O'Briens, kept Griffin and Bailey all day while we moved, which was SO helpful...and she made us potato soup...yummy! I owe a HUGE thank you to my family for their help...Mom, Dad, Jacob, and I stayed up until midnight that night working on unpacking. I'm the type of person who does not like to drag things out at all, I like to get it done! My family left on Tuesday, and as much as I know they will miss us, they probably enjoyed going home to rest! I am so grateful to have parents who help us out so much!

Tuesday, after our new fridge was delivered (which I LOVE...Black Friday special), Jacob's family arrived. Somehow I didn't get any pictures while they were here, so I will have to get Jessie to send me some! They stayed with us until Thursday and headed back after Jacob's mom went with me to the babies 6 month appointment (that blog post will come later).

This has been a WHIRLWIND of a Christmas break, and it is nice to just sit and relax for a few days. We still have some organizing to do, but that will get done eventually! I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
